"What are you doing to maintain your saltiness? How are you letting your light shine for all the world to see?"

Let Your Light Shine Through…

I am very excited about a training I will be attending in February.  The training is a Turnaround Boot Camp for pastors.  There are four required books I need to read before the training, and I had to take a profile test to see if I am equipped to be a turnaround pastor or if I will need to be trained to become one.  I have only finished one of the four books so far, and it was a great read.  The book is “Pastor Unique: Becoming a Turnaround Leader.”  If you are interested in being part of a healthy church, read this book.

Please pray for me and for the church as we try to minister to people in the world today.  The church in North America is declining daily!  “Churches in North America are struggling to produce disciples.” (Page xi of 354.)

People need Jesus.  What do we need to do differently so that more people will come to know the Lord?  That’s what this training is all about.  We know the message of Jesus Christ is the same today as it was 2,000 years ago.  That is truth!  How we deliver that message must change if we are going to be effective in the world today.  “Since 80-85% of the churches in North America are either plateaued or declining, it is time for the Church in America to give serious consideration to different ways of preparing and training pastors to lead these dying churches into renewal.” (page xxix of 354.)

I will warn you now, this will get messy.  The world is a messy place.  Pray now that God will equip us all for the ministry to which He calls us.  We have the chance to be the salt and light in a dark world.  That is what Jesus has called us to do.

“You are the salt of the earth.  But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again?  It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.  You are the light of the world.  A city on a hill cannot be hidden.  Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.  Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”  (Matthew 5:13-16)

What are you doing to maintain your saltiness?  How are you letting your light shine for all the world to see?

That’s a big responsibility!  Are we ready for the challenge?  “If God is for us, who can be against us?”  (Romans 8:31b)  Let’s prepare ourselves through prayer and fasting for what the Lord is calling us to do.  Keep watching, I’ll have more to tell you after I attend Turnaround Boot Camp.

See you at the church!
