"Through this nice gift, I found that the best gift I could ever receive is having Jesus in my life."

Operation Christmas Child

Once again, Yocumtown Church of God is participating in the Operation Christmas Child program, sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse International Relief.  National Collection Week is November 12th – 19th. Fill a wrapped shoe box this Christmas with small gifts and items for less fortunate children across the world.  Your hearts will be warmed by stories of children who experience the joy of Christmas and hear the good news of Jesus Christ, many for the first time. Your gift can make an eternal difference!

Gift Suggestions:

  • School supplies: Pens, pencils and sharpeners, crayons or markers, stamps and ink pad sets, writing pads or paper, solar calculators, coloring and picture books, etc.
  • Toys: Small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals, kazoos, harmonicas, yo-yos, jump ropes, small Etch-a-Sketch, toys that light up or make noise (with batteries), Slinky, etc.
  • Hygiene items: Toothbrush, toothpaste, mild bar soap (in a plastic bag), comb, washcloth, etc.
  • A personal note: You may enclose a note to the child and a photo of yourself or your family. (If you include your name and address, the child may write back.)

DO NOT INCLUDE:  Used or damaged items; war-related items such as guns, knives or military figures; chocolate or food; out of date candy; liquids or lotions; medications or vitamins; breakable items such as snow globes or  glass containers; aerosol cans, etc.

  1. Use an empty SHOE BOX (standard size, lid wrapped separately).
  2. Determine whether your gift will be for a BOY OR GIRL.
  3. Fill the box with a variety of gifts that will bring delight to a child (see Gift Suggestions above).
  4. Delivering shoe box gifts overseas is costly. Please donate $7 for each shoe box you prepare to help cover shipping and other project expenses. You can give online and track the destination of your box or you can make a check payable to Samaritan’s Purse (not YCOG). If your are preparing more than one shoe box, please write one combined check.
  5. Place a rubber band around each closed shoe box and bring, along with your donation check, to Yocumtown Church of God on or before November 18th. We will deliver the filled boxes and checks to their drop-off destination.
