“The Things I Miss”

Things I miss:

  • People
  • Hugs
  • Laughter
  • Kids/grandkids
  • Eating in a restaurant
  • Tuesday mornings with the ladies
  • The energy I get from being with other people
  • My normal routine

I don’t know when I will be able to do those things, but I’m choosing to live in hope that the time will come.  I must admit I have had moments of sadness because I’m not able to hug the people I love.  Sometimes I need social distancing for my own emotional/spiritual health, but for the most part I am healthier when I get to spend time with people.  I miss that.

In all of this, I am grateful.  All of my basic physical needs are being met.  We have not missed a meal.   The heat has been working fine, and our home is not in need of any repairs.  We even have toilet paper. (Thanks, Angie.)  My family remains healthy.  We have been able to spend time outdoors.

Although I have experienced times of loneliness, I know that I am never truly alone, and I know that I am deeply loved.

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?  Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?  As it is written:  ‘For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.’

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.  For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 8:35-39

Because He loves me, I know that I will be okay.  I pray that you have that same peace and are comforted by these words.  It is this love that reminds me that the things I miss are also the things I can look forward to.

Things I can look forward to:

  • Seeing the people I miss
  • Hugs
  • Laughing
  • Time with kids/grandkids
  • Dinner in a restaurant
  • Maybe a new normal

And I look forward to the time when we can gather again as a family of believers.  I am really looking forward to that day.

Blessings to you and yours,

Pastor Stef
