“All Scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

2 Timothy 3:16

“Good Morning, Church!”

Good morning!!!

I would normally be out the door by now, heading to see my church family.  Some of you would beat me there to open the building, set up tables, or make the coffee.   I appreciate that.  The worship team would be gathering soon to prepare our hearts and voices to lead you in a time of worship.  And in the words of  Jamie Grace, I would be all set to “get my worship on.”

I wonder what many of you are doing on this particular Sunday.  I hope this finds you well physically, emotionally and spiritually.  I want to encourage you to not allow the coronavirus to stop you from worshipping today or any other day.  If you don’t know what else to do, open your Bible.  The Old Testament is full of a rich history of God interacting with His people. If you are a history person, Genesis is a great place to start.   The Psalms are songs and poetry written by people pouring their hearts out to God.  There are some short books that tell great stories of God’s redemption.  I love the books of Ruth and Jonah.

In this season of lent, I have pastor friends who use this time to read the gospels.  Maybe that is a good place for you to dig in.  God, in human form, comes down to show His love to His creation.  Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.  All different perspectives of the same story.  Then, the books of Acts and the formation of the early Christian church.  How did the message of Jesus carry on for so many generations?  Paul’s letters to those churches are full of instructions on what it means to be a follower of Jesus.

Start with prayer, ask God to speak into your heart today.   Let the Holy Spirit guide what you are going to read, and allow Him to speak into your heart.  You can’t go wrong.  “All Scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”  2 Timothy 3:16.  After you spend some time reading, close that special time with God in prayer.

If music is a way you connect and worship, turn on a Christian radio station or pandora.  Ask Siri to play Christian music.  If you have family around you, take some time to worship together. Read as a family, and talk to your kids about what you are reading.  There are also VBS songs on youtube – with motions!  Dance with your kids.  Whatever you do, keep God as your focal point today.

For the past two weeks, the directory has been on my little table, and I look through it often to see your faces and to pray for each of you.  I have had the opportunity to talk with many of you on the phone, and it has been refreshing to hear your voices.

Thank you to everyone who has offered to deliver supplies and help anyone who is in need.  No special needs have been brought to my attention.  Yay God!  If you are in need of anything, please call me.

Here is a little Jamie Grace for you to start your day.

Blessings!

Pastor Stef
