"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms."

1 Peter 4:10

Easter Preparations

Snow is falling as I write this. It’s hard to believe that the Lenten Season has begun, and Easter is just around the corner. As you begin to think spring, remember to think Jesus! I am ready for the warmth of spring, and I am excited to celebrate the resurrection of our Savior.

Holy Week will begin with Palm Sunday on March 29th. On Maundy Thursday (April 2nd), we will have a “Love Feast” in the Faith Life Center. This will include a light meal with a time of fellowship, worship and observance of the ordinances of feet washing and communion. On Good Friday (April 3rd), the church will be open from 3:00 to 8:00 for you to come and experience that day.

Leading up to Holy Week, I will be offering church membership classes for four weeks beginning on March 11th. They will be held each Wednesday at 6:30 on March 11th, 18th, 25th, and April 1st. The classes will include information about Yocumtown Church of God, the ordinances of the Churches of God , the Bible, the Holy Trinity, and a little history of the church.

Once the classes have been completed, all participants will have the opportunity to become a member of the church and to be baptized. These classes are also open to our youth, as well as adults, who wish to take the class just to learn more about our beliefs and being a better Christian.   Please pray for our kids as they continue to grow in the Lord.

As your pastor, I have the privilege of serving YCOG alongside of wonderful people who love the Lord and serve Him faithfully and enthusiastically! This week, as the Church Council discussed the health of the church, there was a consensus that YCOG is more prayerful, more obedient, growing, looking outward, and healthier than it was five years ago. Each one of you are part of that health and growth. Let’s all continue together to “press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called us heavenward in Christ Jesus. Let us live up to what we have already attained.” (Philippians 3:14&16)
