"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms."

A Time to Be Thankful

“Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and extol Him with music and song.” – Psalm 95:2

If you are like me, you may be asking yourself, “Where did this year go?” It seems like only yesterday it was May and we were preparing for the summer ministries. Now, we are preparing for Thanksgiving and Christmas. This is a great season for reflecting on the year and recognizing what God has done for us as His people and His church.

For the past couple weeks, I have been working on the special services to help us celebrate this Christmas season. The first Sunday in Advent is November 30. I hope you will plan to attend our breakfast and “Hanging of the Greens” service. I am excited to have an opportunity to come together as brothers and sisters in Christ to eat and decorate our sanctuary together. It is a way for us to share “family time” this year.

The worship service will begin at 10:15 with “Angels Came Down.” We will see the messengers of God reveal His plan for creation.

In preparing for the Advent season, I came across a great little book by Ace Collins entitled, Stories Behind the Best Loved Songs of Christmas. Each Sunday in Advent, we will hear about the inspiration behind some of our favorite Christmas hymns. Through these stories, it is my desire that we will gain new insights into their meaning, new appreciation for the heritage of faith for which they stand, and new richness in our celebration of Christ’s birth.
