Our mission is to demonstrate the love of God and to build the community of Jesus Christ.

Yocumtown Church of God

A Month of Missions

Yay God! for a busy summer season. August has developed into a mission’s month. We will hear from various groups each Sunday morning to see what God is doing through the people of YCOG.

Weird Animals will begin to appear on August 3rd when we open our doors to the community for Vacation Bible School. Everyone is welcome! Make this a week for you to learn and grow along with the kids. You can come help in many different ways or just join us each evening for the opening worship at 6:15. You are never tool old for VBS!

We will run VBS every evening from Sunday through Thursday. The closing program will be on Sunday, August 10th, at 10:15 during the morning worship service. Support our kids and join us for this special service.

The youth will return from their mission trip on August 1st and will then serve the local community by helping with Vacation Bible School. The mission team will lead the worship service on Youth Mission Trip Sunday, August 17th. You will hear how God used our youth to serve the community in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina.

Rich and Carla have returned safely from their trip to Uganda. Yay God! They have come back with many stories of their experiences and how God used them. They will be sharing those experiences with us on Sunday, August 24th.

Something exciting will be happening in our church this fall, and you don’t want to be left out. It’s called — The Story, a condensed chronological Bible. In our church-wide journey through The Story, we are going to discover together how our story fits into God’s story. From children through adults, we are all a part of God’s story. I hope you will join us this fall and make The Story a part of your spiritual journey.

The adult class will be taught by Ed Rowe in the Fellowship Hall.¬† The youth and children’s ministries will share the gym and classrooms, divided by age, and will be taught by a group of wonderful teachers!

To kick off our fall programming, we will have a carnival theme night on Wednesday, August 27th. There will be a bouncy house for the younger children, crafts, food, horses, a dunk tank, carnival games, and an opportunity for you to register everyone in your family. (If you have any carnival games or ideas that you would be willing to share for this event, please contact me as soon as possible.)

The first evening of The Story will be on Wednesday, September 3rd from 6:30 until 8:00. As a church, we will continue through this journey together for approximately thirty-one weeks.

See you at the Church!
