A Living Hope

Looking out the window, it is hard to believe that spring is coming, but it is. God is faithful. Even when the sky is gray and the snow has turned an ugly black color, we know that spring is coming, and knowing that gives us hope. Hope that the sun will shine; hope that warmer temperatures will come; hope that flowers will bloom and grass will grow.

It takes death for new life to happen. Jesus is a wonderful example of that for us. We couldn’t have had the resurrection without the crucifixion. Because of his resurrection, we have hope in so much more than a new season. 1 Peter says:

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you.”

As you look out your window┬áin the days to come and see the snow begin to melt, flowers blooming and the buds popping out on the trees, may you be reminded of the new life you have in Christ. For you were once “dead in your transgressions and sins,” but now, “because of his great love for you, God, who is rich in mercy, made you alive with Christ.” (Ephesians 2:1&4)
