YCOG Core Values

This month, the Administrative Council adopted the core values for the Yocumtown Church of God.  It is important to us that these values come out of scripture and not what is trendy or popular in today’s culture.  We decided on these three:  Following Jesus, Living as Community, and Lives Changed.  These are taken out of Acts 2:41-47 (The Message).

“That day about three thousand took him at his word, were baptized and were signed up.  They committed themselves to the teaching of the apostles, the life together, the common meal, and the prayers.  Everyone around was in awe – all those wonders and signs done through the apostles!  And all the believers lived in a wonderful harmony, holding everything in common.  They sold whatever they owned and pooled their resources so that each person’s need was met.  They followed a daily discipline of worship in the Temple followed by meals at home, every meal a celebration, exuberant and joyful, as they praised God.  People in general liked what they saw.  Every day their number grew as God added those who were saved.”

As we evaluate our ministries and begin the planning process for our 2020 calendar, these will be the standards to which we will hold each ministry and church event.  We invite you to be a part of our church family.  Join us as we follow Jesus and do our best to honor Him in every way.  We are committed to using the Bible as our teaching source and our guide.  Because Jesus died on the cross so that we can spend eternity in heaven, we have a reason to celebrate and be joyful!  We gather each Sunday morning at 10:15 to praise Him and worship Him together.  We believe that by living as community, we can help one other because we know that life can be difficult.  As we continue to follow Jesus and to know Him more, we believe that together, we will bring positive changes to one another and to the world.
